For our major fundraiser we rely on the generous donation of clean, good quality, gently used, near pristine books. Below are specifics as to the type and condition required for the donations and the details of the location & opening times of the Book Depot.

Our book sales are successful because we offer only good quality, CLEAN, gently-used, near pristine books. Please help us by donating only what will sell. Most popular are: mystery, fiction, history, local history, biographies, science fiction, etc.
Because our customers do not buy them, we do not accept the following:
encyclopedias, books sets, ex-public library items, Readers Digest books, text books, Languages other than English & French, CDs, DVDs, VCR tapes or magazines.
The following categories sell very poorly: computer & business, self-help/life style, medicine, nonfiction, politics, sociology, psychology and travel, thus we only accept ones that are less than 3 to 5 years old.
Children’s books should be in mint condition unless they are vintage i.e. >40 yrs old. Smelly, dusty and mouldy books are NOT acceptable as they are a health risk to anyone handling them.
Discarded books have to be sorted – the hard cover removed (these go in the garbage) and the paper is sent for recycling. Besides the wasted time and effort we currently pay around $1,500 per year to have the recycling taken away.

We collect and sort books throughout the year. Please do NOT bring donations to the sale – we do not have time to sort & price them there.
Book Depot – Location:
Our Book Depot in the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199, Chebucto Road. Use the basement door located near the cross walk on Chebucto Road across from Chebucto Lane. A large yellow sign will be posted outside the building door when there is someone present to receive the books. In case of closure due to weather a notice will be posted on our Facebook page and the first page of the website.

All year long on the First Saturday of each month 9.30 to noon (Dec 7th, Jan 4th, Feb 1st, Mar 1st, April 5th, May 3rd, June 7th) .
If these times are not convenient, please contact us to make other arrangements.
We are unable to offer a pick-up service.
